Hey, welcome to The Simple Truth. I’m Julie Carruth

In Philippians chapter 2 verse 14, the Apostle Paul commanded us to do everything without complaining or arguing. In Philippians 2 verse 15 Paul explains why when he writes, “so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”

Now, as a born-again Christian, you are righteous in God’s eyes, but being “blameless” refers to how you are seen in the eyes of men. And how do you remain blameless and pure? Well Paul told us several verses back it’s by having the Mind of Christ as you humbly serve others putting their needs before your own. The original Greek verb tense Paul uses here indicates that this is going will be an ongoing process to remain blameless and pure as a child of God. It means that you continually devote your life to doing God’s will and obeying His commandments.

The church in Philippi resided in a city that prided itself as being a great commercial center to the ancient world. Many cultures and nationalities moved through that city doing business on any given day, tainting the city and region with their perverse ideas and beliefs.

Paul knew the importance of the believers in Philippi to remain blameless and pure in a world run amuck with false gods and immoral behavior.

And as they remained harmless, innocent, and morally pure they would shine as a beacon of light pointing the way to God in a sinful world filled with corruption.

So, your Simple Truth for today: The purpose of doing everything without grumbling or arguing is so that that we remain pure and uncontaminated bright lights shining out in a world of darkness lighting the way for the lost.
