What Does Philippians 3:21 Mean? | Will we get a new body in heaven?

What Does Philippians 3:21 Mean? | Will we get a new body in heaven?

Philippians 3:21 (NIV): 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Philippians 3:21 (ESV): 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Philippians 3:21 (KJV): 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Will we get a new body in heaven? Paul answers that question for us in today’s 2-minute Bible podcast.

Hey, welcome to The Simple Truth. I’m Julie Carruth

Today, we end our exploration through Philippians chapter 3 with a question that has been asked a lot by Christians. “When I die will I get a new body in heaven?” Because can I just be honest and say Please sweet Jesus give me an upgrade? Lol. Can you just tuck this in there, and lift this here? And is it too much to ask for perfect eyesight and wrinkle free skin while we’re at it😉

But seriously, people in the Apostle Paul’s day must have been asking the same question, because Paul addresses it here in Philippians chapter 3 verse 21 when he writes, " Christ will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself."

Can we say, “Amen?” I mean, are you as excited as me that one day every pain you have in your body will be gone?

The word “transform” as in “transform our lowly body” indicates an external transformation.

And the word “conformed” as in “conformed to His glorious body” refers to an internal transformation.

Christ will transform your internal nature and redesign it for heaven. According to this verse, we will be conformed into the same likeness as Christ’s glorified body. Everything he’s able to do, we will be able to do.

Christ will do all this using the same power that will bring everything under his control.

So, your Simple Truth for today: As a Christian, you can rejoice that one day you’re gonna receive a major upgrade both inside and outside of your body.
