Hey, welcome to The Simple Truth. I’m Julie Carruth.
We’ve been looking into what I believe could be your life verse for 2021. It’s no secret that we are facing battles from every direction in our lives right now, but God wants us to open our eyes and see that He’s still on the throne, and He still has control. Satan wants nothing more than for you to give up and throw away everything that you’ve worked so hard for. Satan never gives up. Even back in 701 BC, the Israelites knew what it was like to feel incredible fear when facing a raging battle. They had the entire Assyrian army, 185,000 wicked, brutal men, coming to attack Jerusalem and the Israelites felt helpless. But God commands them to wake up and open their eyes to see Him for who He is.
The past two podcasts we’ve been exploring the powerful verse in Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” If you’ve missed those days, I highly encourage you to listen. I believe that this verse has the power to transform your mindset in 2021.
God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” The Hebrew word for God here is Ělōhîm (El-o-HEEM). This divine title means that God is THE Creator, the all-powerful One. In Hebrew, it dramatically communicates that God is always in charge.
When we put all that we have learned together in this verse it’s as if God is saying, “Stop fighting. Cease striving. When you stop and experience my presence, you know that you have nothing to worry about. Let me fight your battles. See Me for who I am. I am Elohim, the all-powerful One.
I believe that when you stop and meditate on this scripture, it has the power to breathe life and strength back into your life where you’ve been hurting for some time. You can deeply know - notice it’s no wonder or wish or hope - but rather you can know that he is God, the Creator of this entire universe and He wants to be the Lord of your life.
Let’s bring this to a close by looking at our Great God. Remember that battle the Israelites were facing? The one that God said, “Be still and know that I am God.” Here’s the rest of the story. You see the Assyrians were planning their attack. King Hezekiah, who was the King of Jerusalem prayed one prayer. Do you know what God did? That God who commanded us to “be still and know He is God?” He sent ONE angel to annihilate the Assyrian soldiers, leaders, and officers. That’s what happens when you be still, stop fighting on your own and let God be God.
May 2021 be the year where you personally experience and know who God is. This all-powerful, Creator of the universe wants to fight your battles for you. Will you let him?
